Yoga Philosophy Education

Meet our Yoga Therapist, Brett Caroline Matzke.

Brett’s yoga journey began while she was in college studying environmental studies; the more she learned about the natural world, the more she felt compelled to develop self awareness to initiate inner healing. For she resonated with the truth that human beings are a part of the larger biotic community we call earth. One of her favorite authors, Maya Tiwari, writes in her book A Life of Balance:

“We are the air, water, soil, and light of the planet. Every grain of sand, every mountain range, every river, and every leaf contains the same elements. We should celebrate nature in our very nature…” (p. 5)

These elements that make up all of nature; earth, air, fire, water, ether, are the foundation to the sister science to Yoga, Ayurveda. In addition to receiving her RYT200 at the Maui Yoga Shala, Brett has been on the path towards becoming a Certified Yoga Therapist with PranaYoga School for Holistic Health and Yoga; where ayurveda is a foundation to the practice of yoga therapy. She has completed 1000 hours of Yoga Therapy training and is in the final portion of her clinicals. She feels immensely grateful that she has been able to learn these therapeutics, as they have been the foundation for her own holistic healing. She is filled with passion and excitement to be able to share the practice with her community.
